U.S. Grain Standards Act and the Federal Grain Inspection Service

For nearly a century, the U.S. Grain Standards Act (USGSA) and the USDA’s Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) have established the quality standards and inspections that anchor global trust in U.S. grains.

Core Position

NAEGA calls for full, timely reauthorization of the USGSA, paired with the staffing, oversight, and interagency coordination needed to keep this system performing at the level U.S. agriculture and global buyers expect.

NAEGA supports internationally agreed, science-based standards to ensure safe levels of pesticide residues in food and feed, and application that protects the environment, human and animal health. NAEGA supports regulations aligned with international standards that do not limit trade without justifiable public health or environmental benefit.
